Johnny Angel's Ginchy Stuff

It's Sunday ... Soul Sunday that is and getting ready for my Heavenly Soul broadcast tonight on jukinoldies.com. As I pull my Tymes records for our spotlight tonight I started thinking about the great Soul Music that came out of Philly. I then started to think about my friend Dione Witherspoon (Dee Dee Sharp) who put her singing career on hold at the height of her career to help run her then husband's (Kenny Gamble) business Gamble and Huff Music Company. All those great Pop hits on the Cameo/Parkway label, Slow Twistin' with Chubby Checker, Mashed Potato Time, Gravy, Ride and the list goes on, what would have come next? Most people know Dee Dee for her Pop hits but how many know the Soul Songbird for her contribution to Soul Music? Her version of "I Really Love You" is still one of my all time favorite soul records and there were many more as well as spiritual records. The lady is a Soul Diva! She actually helped Kenny Gamble with the careers of the O'Jay's, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and so many more ot the Philly Soul groups in their stable of stars. I've had the pleasure of working with Dee Dee Sharp many times and each time she never ceases to amaze me with her voice, her musical talent and her knowledge of the business. I will be putting together a Soul Spotlight Show on my jukinoldies Heavenly Soul Show featuring the great Dee Dee Sharp in a few weeks. Til then, go on Youtube and check out all the great information there is on this great Soulster. If you are in the 'Burgh and looking for something to do, stop down my Johnny Angel's Ginchy Stuff and Music Museum and re-live some of those great times gone by in music history. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, check in on those less fortunate, pray for those who need a helping hand and ROCK ON!
